标题: Why Contact Counts in MLB The Show 26: Tips from U4GM
Pouring most of your remaining MLB 26 stubs into another star outfielder can deliver surprisingly little improvement if your lineup already produces runs. Garrett Mitchell presents a different roster question: would better coverage in center field and smarter advancement help you more than another modest increase in power Spend against the weakness costing you games, not the highest rating available.

Using the supplied 99 OVR postseason profile as a working example, Mitchell combines elite speed and fielding with contact ratings above his power ratings. That suggests a contact-oriented center fielder, not someone whose roster spot depends on home runs. The acquisition method and actual cost still need checking before committing resources.

Buy Defensive Improvement Before Redundant Power

Mitchell makes the strongest case when your current center fielder struggles to reach gap contact. A better bat cannot directly repair those defensive losses. His less obvious contribution is protecting your pitching investment: converting a reachable ball into an out prevents the next hitter from batting with another runner aboard.

That utility can remain useful as your roster improves. Early investment in a capable defender can carry into a late-season lineup, provided his hitting remains competitive at your difficulty level. If stronger hitters eventually displace him, a reserve role preserves some value through defensive substitutions and situational running.

The Overlooked Route Is a Shared Roster Spot

A defense-first center fielder paired with a matchup pinch hitter is the alternative worth testing. Power-focused evaluations can undervalue this arrangement because its benefits are split across two cards. For resource-limited players approaching competitive play, it can outperform an expensive replacement when an existing reserve already supplies the missing offense.

The tradeoff is roster flexibility. Replacing Mitchell at the plate may weaken center field afterward, so this approach works best late in games when the immediate scoring opportunity outweighs the remaining defensive workload. It is less attractive if your reserves already cover several essential roles.

Keep Mitchell in center field unless another defender clearly improves your coverage.
Attempt steals after observing the pitcher rather than treating speed as permission.
Advance on contact only when the ball location and out count support it.
Test several games before spending resources to replace a productive starter.

Everyday Mitchell or a Shared Role

These two approaches address different weaknesses. Choose between them using your actual results at the plate and the reserve space you can afford, rather than the card rating alone.

Approach	Main benefit	Main cost	Best fit
Everyday Mitchell	Continuous coverage	Possible hitting sacrifice	Thin reserve group
Shared role	Situational offense	Extra roster slot	Established reserve hitter
Decision priority	Prevent costly hits	Preserve flexibility	Match your weakness

Everyday Mitchell wins when his contact production is sufficient and defense is your clearest problem. The shared role wins when you already own a reliable substitute and struggle to convert late scoring chances. Neither approach justifies purchasing another card before testing what your existing roster can accomplish.

Make Your Next Upgrade Solve Something

For progression, prioritize available objectives that improve multiple roster positions rather than repeatedly pursuing center field upgrades. Track missed catches, unsuccessful advances, and weak plate appearances separately. That record helps distinguish a personnel problem from an execution problem before another acquisition consumes your resources.

Any budget consideration involving MLB 26 stubs for sale should follow that roster assessment rather than replace it. Mitchell earns continued investment when his defense prevents runs without creating an unacceptable offensive gap. Keep him while that remains true, and redirect your next upgrade toward the position still costing you games.
